FoME Symposium 2015 - Documentation

The FoME symposium was held on October 1 and 2 2015 in Bonn, Germany and hosted by DW Akademie. This is the online documentation, directed to participants and non-participants alike. You will find presentations, picture galleries, videos and audio files of the intense discussions that took place. Welcome Address

Christoph Dietz, Coordinator of FoME, opened the symposium with introductory remarks.

Ben Ramalingam’s presentation argued perceptions of the problems aid seeks are simplistic and linear whereas in reality, the problems are complex and require creative context specific solutions.

Brought together an excellent mix of policy makers, practitioners, evaluators and development expert to deliberate on how to design projects with better quality and to improve sustatainability.

Workshops

Workshops were organized by FoME members along three thematic strands namely: developing and designing media development projects; running them sustainably and measuring their impact and quality.

Knowledge Café

This interactive networking session discussed the dos and don‘ts of managing a project and provided the space to get in touch with a couple of interesting institutions and projects.

Digital Dimension

How can media development make the most of digital technology in improving organizational and management processes and the opportunities it carries in creating digital collaborative projects.

Final Plenary

At the end of two days of intensive discussion, the team of reporters and the cartoonist sum up. Among the lessons learned: Go bottom up, and not top down.
